Amman, Sep. 20 (Petra) – The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) stated personnel from the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) handled 119 cases across the Kingdom's governorates during the eighth week of their intensified crackdown against the deadly "crystal meth" substance.
According to a PSD statement issued on Sunday, these cases comprised 29 incidents involving trafficking and promotion of the substance, while 90 cases involved personal use.
During the crackdown, fifty-five dealers and pushers implicated in these cases were arrested, while 135 users were apprehended in the remaining incidents. A total of 0.293 kg of the deadly crystal meth was seized in possession of the detained suspects.
The spokesperson said the campaign is implemented with "firm resolve and zero tolerance" until its objectives are achieved, in a bid to raise awareness about the substance and pursue any party attempting to deal with this substance.
As for its adverse effects, the official said the substance causes death to users and drives heinous crimes threatening society and the safety of its members.
The spokesperson once again urged the public to fulfill their humanitarian and social duty by promptly reporting any information regarding individuals involved with, or details concerning, this deadly substance via the unified emergency number 911.
