Five dead, 18 injured in bus collision involving military conscripts

Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) -- A traffic collision involving a civilian bus carrying national service conscripts in southern Jordan left five people dead and 18 injured on Thursday, according to a spokesperson for the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army.
The crash occurred at 3:15 p.m. local time as the bus was transporting conscripts back to their residences in the southern region of the kingdom when it collided with another vehicle.
The spokesperson confirmed that four conscripts and the bus driver were killed in the accident.
Emergency services evacuated the 18 injured passengers to Prince Ali Military Hospital, Karak Governmental Hospital, and Tafilah Governmental Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment under close specialist care.
Military authorities have launched an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the collision in accordance with standard legal protocols.
The General Command offered its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
