Zarqa, Oct. 4 (Petra) -- Hashemite University Rector Khaled Hyari and the French Embassy's Scientific and University Cooperation Attaché, Oissila Saaidia, discussed scientific and academic cooperation between the university and French universities.
The talks covered faculty and student exchanges, joint programs, joint research and conferences, and French experience in applied and technical education. They also covered teaching Arabic and French, hosting and taking part in French higher education fairs, and the possible creation of a French educational and cultural corner at the university.
Hyari said the university looks to strengthen its academic ties with French universities. He said it offers French-language courses open to all students, as well as courses for students of the Queen Rania Faculty of Tourism and Heritage, and is ready to take part in any events that support these relations.
He said the university has about 30,000 students, has graduated more than 120,000 and offers about 100 majors, from intermediate diploma to doctorate.
Saaidia highlighted the interest of French universities in expanding cooperation with Jordanian institutions. While existing partnerships are concentrated largely in scientific disciplines, she noted interest in extending collaboration to additional social sciences and humanities fields and increasing the participation of female students in exchange programs.
She toured the Deanship of Academic Development and the Language Center and viewed the university's facilities.
