Amman, Sep. 10 (Petra) -- Mild late-summer weather will dominate across most regions through Saturday before a warmer air pattern pushes temperatures higher on Sunday, bringing relatively hot conditions to much of the country and very hot weather to the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

The Jordan Meteorological Department said Thursday will remain moderate across most regions, with daytime temperatures reaching 31 degrees Celsius in East Amman, 29 C in West Amman and between 27 C and 28 C across the highlands.

Heat will remain concentrated in the Badia and low-lying areas, where temperatures are forecast to reach 39 C in the northern Jordan Valley and at the Dead Sea, and 40 C in the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba. Moderate northwesterly winds may become active at times.

Temperatures will edge higher on Friday, but the increase will not be enough to disrupt the moderate conditions prevailing across most regions. A similar pattern will continue on Saturday, while the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba remain hot.

A clearer change is forecast on Sunday, when another rise in temperatures will turn conditions relatively hot across most of the country.

The Badia will also see hotter weather, while temperatures in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will climb into the very hot range. Winds will shift between northwesterly and northeasterly at moderate speeds.

Thursday's highs will reach 32 C across the plains and 36 C in the Badia, compared with 31 C in East Amman, 29 C in West Amman, 28 C in the northern highlands and 27 C in the Sharah highlands.
