Amman, September 22 (Petra) Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa discussed Tuesday with Uber officials ways to develop safe, sustainable and accessible transport solutions for persons with disabilities, the elderly, children and women.

The meeting with Uber General Manager for the Middle East and Africa Martin Roeske and Head of Government Relations Shahm Sharbaji focused on leveraging the company's technological and operational expertise to develop flexible transport models tailored to beneficiaries' needs.

Bani Mustafa called for ensuring accessibility, safety, dignity and independence, while developing solutions that are viable, scalable and sustainable.

She called for cooperation among government entities, the private sector and partners to establish clear operational and funding mechanisms.

The meeting addressed options discussed by the Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment with the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, including the potential use of the Passenger Support Fund to support transport service providers.

Uber officials expressed the company's interest in cooperating with the ministry and relevant stakeholders to explore practical transport models and strengthen access to safe and reliable services.

Both sides agreed to continue discussions on needs, priorities and target groups to develop more inclusive, safe and sustainable transport solutions. //Petra// AK
