Amman, May 11 (Petra) – Her Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, chairperson of the Higher Committee of the Charity and Benevolence Campaign, visited patients receiving treatment at Abdulhadi Hospital and Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital as part of the campaign’s "Touch of Healing" medical program.
During the visit on Sunday, accompanied by members of the campaign’s Higher Committee, Princess Basm met patients from eastern Amman and Zarqa Governorate who had undergone free surgeries performed by volunteer consultants and specialists participating in the initiative. She listened to briefings on the medical procedures and patients’ health conditions.
The "Touch of Healing" program is implemented through a partnership between the Charity and Benevolence Campaign, operated by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), and private sector hospitals and medical institutions. The initiative aims to provide specialized healthcare services to underprivileged families across the Kingdom.
Princess Basma said the campaign takes pride in its partnerships with the private medical sector through 17 agreements signed with hospitals and medical centers, noting the eight-year cooperation with Abdulhadi Hospital and the 18-year partnership with Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital.
She stressed that these partnerships reflect the values of social solidarity and support the campaign’s humanitarian mission to improve the lives of patients from vulnerable families by providing appropriate medical treatment and alleviating suffering.
Princess Basma highlighted the role of the private medical sector in supporting charitable and volunteer initiatives, emphasizing that such cooperation reflects Jordan’s culture of humanitarian and community-based action and contributes to ensuring access to healthcare and dignified living standards.
She also underlined the importance of the surgical procedures and medical interventions provided through the program in restoring hope to patients and enabling them to resume normal lives, while praising the advanced expertise of Jordan’s private healthcare sector and its contribution to strengthening Jordan’s status as a regional destination for medical tourism.
For his part, Abdulhadi Hospital Director Samer Abdulhadi affirmed the hospital’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the campaign and supporting its humanitarian objectives by providing additional medical services to beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital board member Haitham Abu Khadija reiterated the hospital’s continued support for the campaign’s healthcare programs and its commitment to delivering medical assistance to targeted groups.
Head of the campaign’s medical team Nayef Abdallat said the campaign has provided healthcare services to approximately 98,300 patients across the Kingdom since its establishment in 1998 through free medical days and therapeutic interventions.
He added that the campaign also implements developmental initiatives aimed at improving living conditions for beneficiary families, including emergency assistance, housing maintenance, scholarships, educational support, and income-generating projects.
Abdallat noted that the campaign is expanding specialized medical days across the Kingdom and strengthening healthcare partnerships in the governorates, including a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Jordan to provide free dental treatment services to campaign beneficiaries.
