Shipyard fire kills 25 in eastern China's Qingdao

Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) -- A fire aboard a foreign cargo ship undergoing maintenance at a shipyard in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao killed 25 people on Thursday, state news agency Xinhua reported, citing the local fire and rescue bureau.
The blaze broke out while the vessel was being serviced at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
A total of 42 people were on board at the time of the incident. Emergency personnel safely evacuated 12 individuals and transported five injured crew members to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
Rescue teams initially located the bodies of 20 missing workers inside the vessel before recovering the remaining five missing individuals, confirming 25 fatalities.
Emergency management, fire services, police, and medical personnel were mobilized to conduct the search and rescue operation and secure the site.
