Aqaba, Sept. 18 (Petra)-- The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) said on Friday that the city of Aqaba is witnessing increased tourism activity over the weekend, with hotel occupancy rates reaching approximately 93 percent for the period from September 17 to 19.
In a statement, ASEZA said the increase coincides with a range of tourism and recreational activities and events aimed at attracting visitors and boosting tourism in the city.
Salam Al-Maliki, Director of the Tourism Directorate at ASEZA, said hotel occupancy rates recorded high levels during the weekend, reaching 97 percent in five-star hotels, 90 percent in four-star hotels, and 93 percent in three-star hotels.
Al-Maliki noted that the current occupancy rates remain subject to change depending on developments and booking activity throughout the weekend.
She attributed the high occupancy rates to the tourism activity in Aqaba and the diverse tourism options and experiences the city offers, in addition to the recreational and tourism events organized to stimulate tourism and enrich visitors' experiences.
Al-Maliki also highlighted the importance of organizing tourism and recreational events in revitalizing Aqaba's tourism scene, noting that such activities provide an attractive atmosphere for visitors and offer diverse entertainment and tourism options, further strengthening Aqaba's position as a tourist destination attracting visitors from within Jordan and abroad.
