Amman, Sept 21 (Petra) -- Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Monday patronized an awareness march organized by the Al Oun Jordan Association for Alzheimer's Disease at the Abdali Boulevard in Amman, representing HRH Princess Muna Al-Hussein, Honorary Ambassador of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI).
Held on World Alzheimer’s Day under the theme "The earlier you know, the more difference you can make," the walk aimed to underscore the vital importance of early diagnosis.
The event brought together administrative and general assembly members of the association, caregivers, executives, and employees from local businesses, supported by NatHealth, Abdali Boulevard Company, Abdali Hospital, and medical student volunteers from The Hashemite University.
Bani Mustafa praised Princess Muna's humanitarian advocacy for Alzheimer's patients and their families, noting that her leadership reinforces dignity, protection, and quality of life for those affected.
The minister commended the association for its efforts to build community awareness, reduce social stigma, prevent neglect and isolation, and support the social integration of individuals living with dementia.
Bani Mustafa highlighted that the Ministry of Social Development funds care services for 175 elderly individuals residing in voluntary and private care homes, covering their expenses in full, and noted plans to establish state-run senior centers. She stressed the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration between public institutions, civil society, and voluntary organizations to provide sustainable care.
The march forms part of global activities during World Alzheimer’s Month. International channels broadcasted a televised message from Princess Muna discussing this year's campaign theme and emphasizing early detection as a cornerstone for enhancing the well-being of both patients and caregivers.
The Al Oun Association confirmed that its field campaigns and community outreach will continue throughout September to boost public education and promote early screening.
