Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) – Director General of the Princess Taghreed Institute Aghadeer Jweihan has been elected as a member of the board of directors of the Council of Arab Businesswomen (CABW) for its eighth term, 2026-2030, during the council's general assembly meeting held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, with the participation of Arab leaders and figures.
The meeting was chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Hessa Al-Sabah, chairwoman of the CABW board of directors, in the presence of Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy, former Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, and several official figures and women leaders.
According to an institute statement Wednesday, Jweihan's election comes within efforts to enhance Jordanian participation in the Arab economic work system, entrench the presence of Jordanian women's competencies in decision-making positions, contribute to expanding areas of cooperation, expertise exchange, and partnership building among businesswomen in Arab countries, and support opportunities for economic integration and sustainable development.
The CABW is an Arab platform for developing women's role in the economy by supporting economic empowerment, enhancing women's participation in commercial and investment activities, developing their competitiveness, and expanding their access to markets, in addition to supporting their presence in economic decision-making at the national and regional levels.
The council also plays a pivotal role in building bridges of communication and networking among businesswomen and those with investment expertise in Arab countries, exchanging successful experiences, and developing economic partnerships, including facilitating access to markets, promoting financial inclusion, and providing a supportive environment for project growth.
Jordan's representation on the board is expected to provide an opportunity to enhance cooperation between institutions and entities concerned with economic empowerment in Jordan and their counterparts in Arab countries and to expand prospects for joint initiatives that support women's entrepreneurship.
