Jerash, March 18 (Petra) -- Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Wednesday conducted a field tour in northern Jerash Governorate to check on progress in implementing Royal Initiative projects.
Issawi began the tour with a visit to a project to build 15 housing units for underprivileged families in Borma district, which is being implemented under Royal directives as part of a "wider" program to establish 1,300 housing units across the Kingdom’s governorates and Badia regions.
He also reviewed progress on a prefabricated housing project and received a briefing from officials on implementation stages. The project has reached around 70 percent completion.
In Nahla village, Issawi inspected the Nahla Elementary School for Boys, which was established after issuing Royal directives during His Majesty King Abdullah II’s meetings with residents of the governorate. Construction work is nearing completion.
The school houses 12 classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, teachers’ rooms, a basketball court, a kindergarten, and public spaces and amenities.
Residents of Nahla expressed appreciation to His Majesty for initiatives aimed at improving living conditions across the Kingdom, describing the school as an important step in supporting the education sector in the area and providing a suitable learning environment for their children.
The inspection tour also included a visit to Zain Park in Jerash city, where Issawi toured the site with Jerash Governor Mohammad Bani Yaseen.
During the visit, he reviewed maintenance work carried out at the park, including the installation of sand-based and rubber playground units through the Royal Initiatives to provide safe recreational facilities for children.
The installation of children’s play units forms part of the Safe Parks Initiative, under which more than 250 playground units built to international standards have so far been installed across the Kingdom.
Talking at the tour, Bani Yaseen briefed Issawi on the performance of the Greater Jerash Municipality and outlined major projects and plans being implemented in infrastructure and public services.
Issawi concluded his tour with a visit to the flags, banners, and garments workshop operated by the Jerash Ladies Charitable Society, which was equipped with machinery and tools through the Royal Initiatives.
Society President Hiba Zreqat praised the Royal support, saying it had enabled the association to advance its goals in preserving and promoting local heritage, economically empowering women, and improving product quality in line with market requirements. She said the support marked a qualitative shift in the society’s work and opened new growth opportunities.
Zreqat said the society’s two-year outlook includes expanding exports beyond Jordan and increasing the number of women employed to 50, helping create more jobs and strengthen the sustainability of its productive projects.
The workshop currently provides employment for 10 girls from low-income families after training them to work at the facility.
At the end of the tour, Issawi said the Royal Initiatives will continue in Jerash and across all governorates to cover all sectors and responding directly to citizens’ needs and priorities.
He said the projects translate Royal directives into "tangible" outcomes felt by citizens across the country and are being implemented in cooperation with the government and civil society institutions.
