Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) -- The 16th edition of the Bromine Amman Marathon is set to take place Friday under the patronage of His Highness Prince Firas bin Raad, with runners from Jordan and abroad expected to compete in the annual event held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman." The marathon has once again secured the World Athletics Road Race Label, retaining the international classification for the second consecutive year and further consolidating its presence on the international road-racing calendar.

Preparations for the event have entered their final stage, with organizers and security authorities stepping up coordination to ensure smooth operations and the safety of runners, spectators, volunteers and staff.

The second security coordination meeting was held at the Central Amman Police Directorate to review final security and operational arrangements ahead of race day. Officials discussed the security deployment plan, traffic management along the race routes and measures to ensure the safety of participants and the public. They also reviewed the race routes, gathering areas, start and finish points, temporary road closures and traffic diversions.

Emergency response arrangements and communication mechanisms among the agencies involved were also examined as part of efforts to ensure an effective response to any situation that may arise during the event.

The event will feature a 42.195-kilometer marathon, a relay race over the same distance, a 21-kilometer half marathon and a 10-kilometer race, in addition to dedicated categories for people with disabilities in the 21-kilometer and 10-kilometer races.

Participants stressed the importance of maintaining close field coordination and a high level of readiness during the final days before the marathon to provide a safe and well-organized environment for participants and spectators and ensure the event runs according to the approved plans.

The security meeting forms part of a wider series of preparations being carried out by the Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan) in cooperation with security agencies and other relevant authorities ahead of the race.

The 42.195-kilometer and 21-kilometer races will start at 6 a.m., while the 10-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m.
