Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) -- South Korean Ambassador to Jordan Kim Pil-woo praised the Kingdom's humanitarian role and its record of assisting and hosting people in times of crisis, describing the country as an example of solidarity and generosity.
Kim made the remarks at a reception hosted by the South Korean Embassy on Tuesday evening to mark Korea's National Day, attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa, representing the Jordanian government, along with officials, diplomats, business and civil society representatives, journalists and other guests.
The ambassador said relations between Jordan and South Korea, spanning more than six decades, have developed on the foundations of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect, supported by longstanding diplomatic, commercial and cultural exchanges.
He said the two countries also share a commitment to advancing security, peace and development and to contributing to a more stable and prosperous world.
Marking the occasion, Kim highlighted the significance of Korea's National Foundation Day, or Gaecheonjeol, which commemorates the founding of the first Korean kingdom nearly 5,000 years ago.
He said the occasion embodies values centered on benefiting the wider world, respecting others and promoting human rights and peace.
Kim, who is approaching the end of his diplomatic assignment in Jordan, also highlighted the Kingdom's security and stability despite the turbulence surrounding the region and praised the hospitality of the Jordanian people.
He said his years in the Kingdom had left a lasting impression and that Jordan would remain in his memory after the conclusion of his tenure.
A video screened during the reception featured Jordanian officials, specialists and students discussing the strength of the Jordanian-South Korean partnership and cooperation across a range of fields at both official and people-to-people levels.
