CAIRO, September 21 (Petra) Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Yamahi condemned incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque by Jewish illegal settlers and ministers from the Israeli government under the protection of Israeli forces.
Yamahi described the incursions as a systematic escalation and a dangerous provocation to the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide, as well as a flagrant violation of the historical and legal status quo at the Al Aqsa Mosque.
He affirmed that Al Aqsa Mosque in its entirety, including its courtyards, gates and prayer halls, is an exclusively Islamic mosque.
He said that the Al Buraq Wall is an integral part of the Islamic holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that any attempt to impose a new reality by force or alter the historical and legal status quo would neither establish a right for the occupation nor confer legitimacy over the holy sites.
He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities by halting the Israeli violations, compelling the Israeli government to respect international law and resolutions of international legitimacy and stopping unilateral and provocative measures in occupied Jerusalem.
Yamahi said that silence over the Israeli violations encourages their continuation, stressing that protecting holy sites and preserving their identity is an international responsibility that brooks no delay.
He reiterated that Jerusalem will remain at the forefront of the Arab world's priorities and that Al Aqsa Mosque will remain a red line that must not be crossed or tampered with.
