Amman, Sept 19 (Petra) – The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) general index rose to 4,124.7 points at the close of last week, up from 4,093.0 points the previous week, an increase of 0.77 percent.
Financial, services, and industrial sector indices rose by 0.84 percent, 0.71 percent, and 0.66 percent, respectively.
Daily turnover during the week from September 13 to 17 stood at approximately JD11 million and the week's total was at about JD55 million, with some 29 million shares changing hands across 23,912 transactions.
The financial sector topped the trading volume at JD22.71 million (41.30 percent of the total), followed by services at JD16.64 million (30.26 percent), and industry at JD15.64 million (28.44 percent).
A comparison of the closing prices of 131 companies traded over the week against their previous closings showed that 84 gained, 27 dropped, and the rest were flat.
