Amman, April 5 (Petra) -- The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, in partnership with the Vocational Training Corporation, on Sunday launched the practical training phase of the "ELEVATE" program at vocational institutes in Madaba and Jerash.
The specialized culinary arts program is supervised by the academy and financed by the Swiss Embassy in Jordan. It aims to equip young Jordanians with the technical and professional skills required for careers in the hospitality, bakery, and pastry sectors through a curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application.
The program saw a high turnout during the initial interview phase. In Jerash, 72 applicants were evaluated, with 16 selected for the culinary arts track and 15 for the bakery and pastry specialization. Similarly, in Madaba, 45 candidates were interviewed, resulting in the acceptance of 17 culinary students and 15 bakery students.
Project organizers said the strong competition for places reflects a growing interest among Jordanian youth in specialized vocational training linked directly to employment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industries.
Participants will receive instruction in fundamental and advanced culinary techniques, food safety, and professional kitchen management. The training is led by expert instructors and adheres to international professional standards and best practices in the sector.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to provide the labor market with qualified professionals and enhance the competitive edge of Jordan's tourism workforce.
