Amman, April 7 (Petra) - The Jordan Press Association (JPA) reached a preliminary agreement on Tuesday to increase professional allowances for journalists at the country’s three major daily newspapers Al-Rai, Ad-Dustour, and Al-Ghad.
The agreement, reached during a meeting at the JPA headquarters, also includes plans to review salary increases for all employees at these institutions based on each newspaper's specific financial mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by JPA President Tariq Al-Momani, along with the editors-in-chief and general managers of the three publications. Al-Momani emphasized the association’s commitment to supporting media institutions, stating that the strength and independence of the press are fundamental to the JPA’s mission.

The JPA president reviewed ongoing efforts to support daily newspapers, including previous successes in raising the rates for government advertisements. He revealed that the current council is pursuing several new proposals aimed at providing further financial and administrative support to journalists, administrators, and technicians.
Al-Momani also commended the spirit of cooperation between the newspapers’ management and the JPA regarding financial settlements and outstanding rights, expressing optimism that final settlements with all media institutions would be signed soon.
The editors and managers in attendance welcomed the JPA’s initiative, noting that institutional cooperation is essential for the advancement of the press sector. They agreed to develop a joint vision with the association to be presented to relevant government authorities to ensure the long-term sustainability of the print media industry.
