Salt, Sept. 21 (Petra) -- Salt Heritage House, a new multipurpose facility developed by Greater Salt Municipality to support events, investment, employment and community services, was inaugurated Monday as one of the city’s key development projects.
Located in the al-Sarw area, the JD6.5 million project occupies an 8,150-square-meter plot and comprises more than 4,120 square meters across four floors, in addition to outdoor courtyards, gardens and parking facilities for more than 200 vehicles.
The facility includes a main multipurpose hall spanning about 1,200 square meters, designed to accommodate conferences, exhibitions, forums and other events. It also features investment spaces for hospitality, services, business, sports and recreational activities, providing an integrated venue for community and economic activities.
Designed with modern architectural elements, including a decorated dome, the Heritage House incorporates accessibility features for people with disabilities and comprehensive infrastructure built in accordance with technical and engineering standards. The project also includes upgraded surrounding infrastructure and access roads to improve traffic flow and facilitate access for visitors.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri said the facility represents a model of public-private partnership and is intended to create employment opportunities while serving the local community.
Masri highlighted Salt’s achievements, including its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the implementation of major heritage and tourism projects, including the Uqba bin Nafi project and Salt Heritage House.
He pointed out that the Local Administration Law, expected to take effect within a month and a half, places greater emphasis on development, public participation, interactive democracy, community oversight of municipal performance, quarterly reporting and participatory budgeting. Municipalities, he added, have a developmental role alongside their service responsibilities.
Chair of the Greater Salt Municipal Committee Ali Batayneh described the Heritage House as a long-awaited facility that completes an important component of the city’s infrastructure, saying it would support development, investment and economic activity while creating jobs and enhancing Salt’s appeal as a destination for events and investment.
Batayneh said the project forms part of the municipality’s efforts to develop infrastructure and provide modern facilities that respond to community needs.
