Amman, Sept. 20 (Petra) -- A parliamentary delegation held talks with senior Georgian officials in Tbilisi on expanding support for Jordanian university students, particularly those studying medicine, while seeking broader cooperation in education and parliamentary affairs.

The delegation, led by MP Hussein Amoush, chairman of the Jordanian-Georgian Parliamentary Friendship Association, discussed students’ needs and possible additional facilities and support with Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze.

The talks also explored stronger academic cooperation between Jordanian and Georgian institutions and greater exchange of educational expertise.

A number of Jordanian students are enrolled at Georgian universities, particularly in medical specialties, and the delegation stressed the importance of ensuring an appropriate academic environment and maintaining coordination between authorities in both countries.

As part of the visit, the lawmakers toured European University in Tbilisi, where they reviewed academic programs, met university officials and spoke with Jordanian students about their experience.

The delegation also met Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman David Matikashvili and parliamentary Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Chair Mariam Lashkhi.

The meetings covered ways to deepen parliamentary coordination and expand bilateral cooperation beyond education to trade, tourism and culture.

Amoush said the visit was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and give the parliamentary friendship groups a greater role in building links between the Jordanian and Georgian legislatures.

He said sustained parliamentary exchanges could help open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries, while continued communication among relevant institutions would support the development of educational and academic ties and better serve Jordanian students in Georgia.
